Mathur has been a crusader for the use of code coverage criteria in the estimation of software reliability or as an orthogonal metric to assess confidence in the reliability estimates. He has proposed the "Saturation Effect" as a motivating device for the use of a sequence of testing techniques. This device is often used by vendors to enhance marketing of their test tools. Mathur's recent work deals with test and management of Internet services. His research group has developed homeWabash, a tool for the management of networked devices. In collaboration with Raymond DeCarlo, Mathur is also investigating the use of feedback control theory for the control of software development processes. 71. Bio: Vernon Rego directs research in the Parallel Computation and Simulation Laboratory (PacsLab) in Purdue's computer sciences department. His research interests include software systems for high-performance distributed computation, network protocols, threads systems, parallel stochastic simulation, computational probability and performance, and software engineering. His current projects include the ACES software architecture for multi-threaded distributed computing and parallel simulation, including the EcliPSe replicated simulation system (for which he was awarded an IEEE/Gordon Bell Prize), the ParaSol process-oriented distributed simulation system, the Ariadne threads system and the CLAM protocol suite. Bio: Dr. Rajaram's research interests include applied optimization in the design and control of large-scale industrial processes and in retail operations management. He has focused on developing analytical models of complicated systems with a strong emphasis on practical implementation. Dr. Rajaram has developed a new control paradigm to increase the productivity of large-scale industrial processes. His work on behalf of Cerestar, Europe's leading manufacturer of starch-based products, won the prestigious Franz Edelman Finalist Award for Achievement in Operations Research and Management. Through use of a technique known as Robust Process Control, Dr. Rajaram saved the company more than $11 million annually by improving its refining processes. Dr. Rajaram's other honors include the George Robbins Award and the Citibank Teaching Award from The Anderson School faculty. Stiglitz. Another part of Sah's research has attempted to explain important social patterns, such as crime in the United States and the persistence and pervasiveness of corruption in many countries. After two years of postdoctoral work at Washington State University and Brown University, Dr. Gupta spent nearly seven years at SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute), where he was actively involved in conducting and guiding research related to the dynamic response of materials. He joined Washington State University in 1981 as a faculty member in the Department of Physics. Dr. Gupta's research activities have emphasized experimental and theoretical studies in the field of shock wave and pressure research related to the following phenomena: structural changes in crystalline solids; inelastic deformation of a wide variety of materials; chemical reactions in condensed energetic materials; and nonlinear wave propagation studies. Development of novel experimental approaches to permit real-time examination of mechanisms at various length scales (atomic to continuum) is an important element of his work. Bio: He has seventeen years of mixed experience in teaching, software development and interactive multimedia content creation. Prior to joining JIIT in 2002, he was working as Director (Multimedia) at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. At IGNCA, he was also the National Project Coordinator of a UNDP funded project Strengthening of National Facility for Interactive Multimedia Documentation of Cultural Resources during 1999-2002 involving a UNDP funding of US $ 2.2 Million that was started in 1994. During 1995-99, He worked as a Project manager and consultant on the same project. Many multimedia CDROMs, Digital archives and a very popular and rich web-enabled Digital Library were created as part of this project which was finally successfully completed under his leadership to the satisfaction of UNDP in 2002. In 2001-2002, At IGNCA, he also formulated and founded another project as the Principal Investigator of Cultural Heritage Digital Library in Hindi with special focus on Hindi speaking region. This project attracted a funding of Rs. 79 lakh from Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India. At JIIT, he organised an international workshop on Computer Applications in Archaeology at JIIT in 2002 Earlier, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Computer Engineering at Delhi Institute of Technology (Now Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology) after spending two years at National Informatics Centre as a Programmer.
