2.a) Explain the importance of energy management programmes in
industries to improve the energy utilization.
b) Explain about check list for top management.
3.a) Explain the constructional features of Energy efficient motors with
the help of analyzing the loss distributions in standard motors.
b) A 40 HP motor is having the following duty cycle
40 HP \u2013 15 minutes
20 HP \u2013 20 minutes
10 HP \u2013 5 minutes
stop \u2013 5 minutes.
Is this motor is efficient for its operation? Discuss the
recommendations.
4.a) Explain the location of capacitors for the improvement of power
factor.
b) Explain the effects of harmonics on power factor.
5.a) Explain the working of following instruments

b)

If a motor has an initial cost of Rs. 10000/- and its scrap value at the end of 7 years is Rs. 2000/-. Determine the book value at the end of each year by sum of years digits methods.
