DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONSTHE COWLES CENTER FOR DANCE AND THE PERFORMING ARTSThis position is responsible for all strategic communications for the organization,including marketing and public relations, using all relevant channels. This positiondirects The Cowles Center voice and branding, and executes strategies to achieveearned revenue goals and build audiences. The Director leads or supervises thedevelopment of communications across all departments and manages media relationsand publications.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
y
Generate earned revenue including memberships, single tickets and group sales.
y
Develop all pricing, packaging and discounting strategies.
y
Build, analyze, and exploit the Vendini database.
y
Manage The Cowles Center brand (including all graphical standards).
y
Create and implement an advertising strategy.
y
Secure media sponsorships.
y
Administer the marketing budget.
y
Lead communications and public relations efforts for the organization, creatingand maintaining favorable relationships between the organization andstakeholders through internal (e.g., publications, website, social media) andexternal (e.g., mainstream media, bloggers, online outlets) vehicles.
y
Supervise a full-time staff of two (Marketing Associate and Box Office Manager),as well as freelance graphic designers and publications editors.
y
Responsible for organizational publications, including programs, monthly e-newsletters and standalone e-blasts.
y
Develop collateral materials for all departments within the organization.
y
Fulfill requirements for recognition for individual, corporate and foundationsponsors.The successful candidate will have a college or graduate-level degree in marketing,communications or arts administration. Several years of performing arts experience ispreferred. Specifically, the ideal candidate will:
y
Possess a minimum of five years¶ experience in marketing and communications.
y
Have experience hiring, working with, and managing vendors, such as webdevelopers, writers, graphic artists, proofreaders and printers.
y
Have demonstrated success in brand strategy and implementation.
y
Possess experience with marketing planning and tactics, such as advertising,campaign development and execution, and promotions.
