When no other female in the herd adopted him, vets at the South African nature reserve where he lived found a woolly surrogate parent: Albert the sheep. Although initially wary of one another, the two soon bonded. They napped in tandem, played together, and Themba even rested his trunk on Alberts back as they explored their enclosure.

Private game reserve in South Africa after the babies lost their respective mothers. The young felines reside together in a farmhouse owned by reserve director Dale howarth, who says they play just like domestic cats but are a lot bigger and more boisterousand do a lot of damage to our carpets and furniture.

Lorraine Adams, director of the Seaview Wildlife encounter on the Isle of Wight, let them share an enclosure so theyd both have some avian companionship. The baby duck took to young Kookie, and when more ducklings hatched they joined the pair. Kookie stayed put like a good babysitter while the smaller birds climbed on his back and under his wings.

week-old Bramble arrived at a bird-of-prey conservation center in Cornwall, england, Sophi greeted the owlet by licking her beak. Bramble returned Sophis kisses, and the two became fast friends, grooming each other and cuddling on the carpet.

landed near the animal protection station in the Neilingding IslandFutian National Nature reserve, off the southern coast of China. The staff adopted the bird, and soon after found a baby macaque who was distressed, weak, and also in need of companionship. The pair roomed together, shared corn snacks, and delighted visitors with their cuddling until they were released into the wild.

We observed her back in 2000 suddenly living in the black bears enclosure, and shed struck up a friendship with the old lady bear, says curator heiner Kls, referring to mausschen, a forty-year resident of the zoo. mausschen and muschi are often seen sharing a bed of hay and a meal of raw meat and fruit.

less than a pound and so frail that his stronger siblings were pushing him around. johanna Kerbys small red dachshund, Tink, had always been maternal to other animals, so Kerby put them together. Straightaway, Pink latched onto Tink and began to feed. Pink soon caught up in size to his siblings, but his family was now strictly canine.
