Admiral Patrick M. Walsh.Presentation of the Bettye Fahrenkamp Award forDistinguished Legislative Leadership on Behalf of WesternStates

WHO:Admiral Patrick M. Walsh
is Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, based at Pearl Harbor,Hawaii. The U.S. Pacific Fleet protects and defends the collective maritime interests of theUnited States and its allies and partners in the Asia-Pacific region. It is a combat-ready andsurge-capable fleet that is ready to respond rapidly to any contingency. Admiral Walsh becamethe Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet on September 25, 2009. He is responsible for the world'slargest fleet command, encompassing 100 million square miles and approximately 180 ships, nearly 2,000 aircraft and 125,000 Sailors, Marines and Civilians.
George Kam
will share his insights as a wayfinder and provide guests with a sense of Hawaiianplace and culture. In these turbulent times of challenge and opportunity, it is more importantthan ever that leaders work together in the spirit of "Pupukahi i holomua." This is a proverb of Hawaiian canoe paddlers who must pull their paddles in unison to reach their destination.Hawaii musician and songwriter,
Brother Noland
, will join Mr. Kam in this special presentation.
