Taxpayers of the Town of Brownville and the Villages of Brownville and Dexter to vote on proposed Joint Fire District
In the Town of Brownville, over the past two years, a dedicated group of representativesfrom the Brownville and Dexter Fire Departments, the Town of Brownville and the Villagesof Dexter and Brownville have met to discuss forming a Joint Fire District. It was decided toask the Villages and Town to form this Fire District.Earlier this year a joint meeting of the Town Board and the Village Boards of Dexter andBrownville was held. All the Boards agreed that it was in the best interest of the residentsin the proposed district to form this joint Fire District. After a Public Hearing, the Town of Brownville board decided to put the final decision up to a public vote of the taxpayers onAugust 31, 2011 from 12 noon – 8 pm at the Town Offices, 16431 Star School House Rd.,Dexter, NY.Prior to this vote, the Brownville and Dexter Fire Departments will hold a series of publicmeetings to present information on the proposed Joint Fire District. These meetings will beheld at 7 pm on the following dates and locations: Thursday, August 11, 2011 Dexter Fire Station #1, Village of DexterWednesday, August 17, 2011 Brownville Fire Station, Village of BrownvilleMonday, August 22, 2011Pillar Point Fire Station (DFD#2) Pillar Point The proposed district will encompass all of the Town of Brownville and the Villages of Dexter and Brownville.
