Hats off fo Lila Shaker, the Ladies Aux. Past President and
present News Editor. Not only does she do an outstanding job
‘on our Newsletter, but she is also recovering well at home from
the Danbury Hospital after extensive surgery. Lila is the type of
person that has gone above the call of duty and has represented
the Ladies Aux with the research she has done for our newsletter,
and continues fo do so, is a credit to her and the Lebanon
American Club - Thank You Lila!
The Golf Tournament is approaching and it is a great Fund Raiser
‘and a lot of fun. Please make an extra effort to participate in
some way. If you have any questions please call Chairman of

I'll let you in on a little secret: the reason the print is so small in my newsletter is because | write too much; but taking
everything into consideration, I'd rather write too much.
Important that you keep a small diary. Jot down when you have appointments and what occurred. Looking back in
your diary can be so helpful in the future. Start one now!
‘Saddened over the loss of Tom Ryan, husband to Dorothy Ellis Ryan and family.
Laurice Safi is back home after a stay at Hancock Hall. She is such a strong lady.

When | was about 39 yrs old | spent much time visiting many of our Lebanese & Syrian
families with Mary Ataya. Memories are still with me of all the happiness | experienced.
Remembering Sally, Edna & Freddie Kalif on Spring St. & Hanna Asmar Mom to Ray
busy in her kitchen downstairs.
Enjoyed my second family LuLu Barbarie & children Freddie, Adele, Joan & Jimmy on
12 Lake Ave where | met Mary Ataya originally. LuLu was born in Einsindany, Lebanon.
Who could forget Vicky, Mary & Liz Shawool on Elm St. Knocking on Vicky George's door
on Franklin St.; you would inhale the aroma of pastries baking in the oven.
Across the street Alexandra Beck with her dog Bobby barking as you walked up to her
door; she always served Turkish coffee.
Friend Mamie Zarour on Gregory St who was special in cooking, making a delicious
Lebanese delicacy called "Cruesch".
Lorraine & Taffy Jowdy on Fairmount Dr. playing cards in the kitchen with Audrienne &
Joe Buzaid, Mamie Jowdy on Granville Ave where we gathered around the table with
coffee & sandwiches.
Antous & Florence Antous on Moss Ave where we tasted the sweetest green grapes
climbing off their porch. It was a joy to visit Susan Hajj on Elm St sitting on her porch
always serving fresh fruit.
The door was always open at Virginia & Joe Nero on Locust Ave.

Remember visiting the new home of Mamie & Kamil Salame on Fairmount; such fine
hospitality
Helen & Emil George of Golden Hill Rd - Emil was a master mechanic at The Barden Corp
for years. Trimming the grapevines on Topfield Dr for Judge Louis George & wife
Evelyn,
Eating delicious tibulee and Kibee at the home of Laurice & Kamil Saffi who lived on
Westville and later on South King; Kamil was a machinist for years at The Barden Corp and
‘Kamil was famous for the Sunday morning Lebanese music program on WLAD Ratio,
don't you wish we could hear that program again.
Richard & Carrie Ellis in Bethel, Carrie playing the piano and Richard night fishing with
my father Mike.
Remembering Milad & Labeeby Ellis on Grand St, later retiring to Florida
Never forget Betty & Eddie Lubus on Dogwood Dr. where the smell of home made bread
‘greeted you at the door, later moving to Clapboard Ridge; today Bill & Annie Najam are
residing at Dogwood Dr.
How fortunate | am to have such fond memories of our ancestors who when many of
you look back were your parents and grandparents.
