The Correlation Between Aphakia and Hyperopia

Introduction
Aphakia is defined by the absence of the natural crystalline lens in the eye. It is most often encountered in patients who have undergone cataract extraction. Aphakia can causes a loss of accommodation, hyperopia, blurred vision and a deep anterior chamber. Complications include detachment of the vitreous or retina, and glaucoma.

Definition: condition where lens are absent Etiology :
surgical procedures absorption and extrusion of lens after trauma or posterior dislocation into the vitreous congenital defect

Symptom
defective vision loss of accomodation deep anterior chamber erythropsia cyanopsia

Lens
transparent and biconvex structure. helps to refract light to be focused on the retina. changing shape change the focal distance focus on objects at various distances. sharp real image of the object. absorbe UV light

aphakic eyes retina over-exposure to ultraviolet light damaged. aphakia eye cannot adjust its focus loss of accommodation.
