INTRODUCTION:WHY GO PALEO?
For tens of thousands of years thegenetic make-up of mankind hashardly changed. We are the same,in most material physiologicalrespects, as our cavemenancestors.Yet, in recent human history, ourdiet has changed drastically fromthat which our body has evolved toprocess. The agricultural revolutionhas outpaced our evolution. The ‘Paleo Diet’ has its roots inwhat our paleolithic ancestors arethought to have eaten: fruits,vegetables, meat, game, poultry,ﬁsh, eggs, nuts and seeds, freshand dried herbs and spices. Ourmodern-day over-reliance on post-industrial age foods such ascereals, processed sugars,processed vegetable oils, dairyproduce and alcohol are blamed byPaleo proponents for the virtuallyepidemic instances in Westernpopulations of health complaintssuch as heart disease, diabetes,obesity, high blood pressure andcancer.Having grown up in Manchester ona diet dominated by bread, dairyand starchy carbs, the Paleo Diet issomething which I have discoveredlater in life, but is something towhich I try to adhere. I feel betterfor it every day and so I have puttogether some Paleo recipes foryou to try, in the hope that you toowill notice a difference in yourself.Enjoy!
