1.0ADMISSIONS
1.1Admissions into B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing & Management)) programme of GITAM University are governed by GITAM University admission regulations.
2.0ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA
2.1A pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination approved by GITAM University with Physics, Chemistryand Mathematics.2.2Admissions into B.Tech will be based on an All India Entrance Test (GAT) conducted by GITAMUniversity and the rule of reservation, wherever applicable.
3.0STRUCTURE OF THE B.Tech. PROGRAMME
3.1The Programme of instruction consists of:(i)A general core programme comprising Basic Sciences, Basic Engineering,Humanities & Social Sciences and Mathematics.(ii)An engineering core programme imparting to the student the fundamentals of engineering in the branch concerned.(iii)An elective programme enabling the students to take up a group of departmental /interdepartmental courses of interest to him/her.In addition, a student has to
(i)
carry out a technical project approved by the department and submit a report.(ii)undergo summer training in an industry for a period prescribed by the department and submita report.3.2Each academic year consists of two semesters. Every branch of the B.Tech programme has a curriculumand course content (syllabi) for the courses recommended by the Board of Studies concerned andapproved by Academic Council.
4.0CREDIT BASED SYSTEM
4.1Each course is assigned certain number of credits which will depend upon the number of contacthours (lectures & tutorials) per week.4.2In general, credits are assigned to the courses based on the following contact hours per week pesemester.One credit for each Lecture / Tutorial hour.One credit for two hours of Practicals.Two credits for three (or more) hours of Practicals.4.3The curriculum of B.Tech programme is designed to have a total of 190 to 200 credits for the awardof B.Tech degree.4.4Every course of the B Tech programme will be placed in one of the nine groups of courses withminimum credits as listed in the Table 1.

5.0MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
The medium of instruction (including examinations and project reports) shall be English.
6.0REGISTRATION
Every student has to register himself/herself for each semester individually at the time specified by the Institute/ University.
7.0 CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT AND EXAMINATIONS
7.1The assessment of the student’s performance in each course will be based on continuous internalevaluation and semester-end examination. The marks for each of the component of assessment arefixed as shown in the Table 2.
