PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL- MAIN CAMPUS

Agham Road, Diliman, Q.C. OFFICE OF THE CAMPUS' DIRECTOR August 1, 2011

Dear Students, Teachers, and Parents, Good day to all! The First Grading Period is about to end. Our students are gearing up for the 1st Periodic Examination plus, for the 4th Years, the UPCAT on August 6/7, 2011. As this Quarter draws to a close, please be informed/reminded of the following: 1. StOdents are required to continue wearing the "dengue uniform." So far, there had been only one case added to the two previous cases we had last June, 2011. (For your better appreciation, last SY 2010-2011, we had twenty-two (22) dengue cases.) 2. Students who have been absent due to illness must proceed directly to the Medical Clinic with their excuse letter and/or medical certificate for medical clearance and issuance of the Admission Slip (AS). After securing clearance and AS from the Medical Clinic, they should go to the Registrar's Office for documentation and validation. These should be done before attending classes. Those absent due to attendance in official activities off-campus can get the Admission Slip anytime within the day of return (please follow the flow chart indicated in the Student's Handbook.) 3. We follow suspension of classes when announced by the Department of Education (DepEd). If such announcements are made when the students are already in school, we shall suspend classes following the time/schedule given by DepEd. Parents are urged to fetch their children immediately after confirmation from the PSHS. For dormers, please be informed about the following WEEKEND ACCOMMODATION DORM POLICY: 4.1 : We shall be enforcing the provision in the PSHS Main Campus Contract of Dormitorv Accommodation that dormers shall go home or stay with guardians on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and shall return punctually either on Sunday evening not later than 8:00 PM or Monday morning by 6:QO AM; and that they will submit a written request from their parents to stay in the. dormitory on weekends in case they have_ to work on school requirements, at least two days before any weekend. 4.2 : While such provision exists, the Management Committee (Mancom) is cognizant that there are dormers who cannot go home on weekends because they live in far provtnces and they do not have Metro Manila guardians. Since there is a need to be consistent with the terms of the Dorm Contract, address the needs of certain dormers, and look into the welfare of our dorm personnel, only the following dormers can stay during weekends: Those who live in far provinces and do not have Metro Manila guardians. Parents of these dormers should submit a letter of request to the SSD Chief on or before August 8, 2011. Those who are participants in approved school activities, with endorsement from teacher/staff sponsor/s.
