From about the age o 13 and into my early 20’s, I was very happily involved in the Boy Scout movement. As you may know the scout motto is “Be Prepared” and it’s one that I havetried to ollow as best I can. heir secondary motto o courseis “Help Little Ole Ladies” and I have been aithul to it alsothrough many years o marriage. In preparing or the worst, I now have all o the wood ornext winter’s heating already stacked away undercover. Ialso have about another two year supply on hand i needed.his is the earliest ever or being prepared, but due to thewet weather and the hot weather, it hasn’t been attractive tobe out in the woods doing much resh logging and so morethings are getting done closer to home.Another reason or my early bird readiness is “ClimateChange”. While most o us think o climate change as “GlobalWarming”, it also means strange and oten severe weatherevents such as tornados. While a major snow storm in Augustdoes seem unlikely, I do think that we need to “Be Prepared”or weather that is more extreme and unpredictable than whatwe have traditionally experienced. So while it is possible thatwe could be sun bathing in December, other extremes couldoccur. As part o being prepared I am looking or a logging “wench”or is it “winch” ... basically a tractor attachment or wie thatwill go into the woods and etch back trees that have beenelled. While playing around in the woods is one reasonto have a “winch” the primary purpose o course is to pullshort people out o deep snow banks. With over two tons o pulling orce, I should be able to rescue the missus rom mostsituations.Anyone one having a good used one (winch not wie) pleasegive me a call. Some urther thoughts:
“It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.”

“As men get older, the toys get more expensive.”
- MarvinDavis.
“Plan ahead or ind trouble on the doorstep.”
