When I started a website to promote my own books in 2007, I never dreamed the direction that itwould take. On the original site I did the work for free just hosted author pages along with mine. When Irealized that the site alone would not bring the book sales that I wanted, I changed the name and startedsearching for promotional avenues for my own books and the authors already with me. As the promotiongrew so did the time it takes Cindy and I do promote. So in 2010 we decided to charge a fair rate for thelabor, lost some authors, and started to gain new authors with a heart for promotion. In this 2011economy we are proud to say that our rates are still fair and we use the power of four websites and sixdirectories just for the on-site promotion. In addition to the four website on-site promotion, the author’sindividual spotlight interview and promotional release are used in off-site blog, social and ezinespromotion.
 Q: What was the primary reason that you choose to become an author/book promoter instead of going elsewhere for your own books?A:
I did the research like any author has to do and I didn’t like what I got for the money. So I decided toquality promotion for a fair price, leaving the author more time to write.
 Q: What makes your promotional services stand out from the others?A:
The key to Books In Sync growing success is the four sites that we use for on-site promotion andsome targeted off-site promotion that is included in the ‘Promotional Contract’ along with extended off-site promotion available to all our authors.
Q: What genres do you hope to promote most?A:
We are looking for all genres. Starting in 2011 we ask all authors are invited to submit an excerpt forus to read. If we think that the author or book (s) will make a great addition to our four website we willsend the author a ‘Proposal With A Promotional Contract’ to read. Since each author’s contract variesdepending on the number of books they want promoted; we are open to some negation of terms, but ask the authors to keep in mind the labor involved.
Q: What has been the most rewarding experience so far as a promotional source for authors?

I can’t say enough about our author. They are wonderful, hard working, creative and talentedindividuals who have honored Books In Sync by allowing us to be just one the tools in their promotionaltoolbox.
 Q: What has been the most negative experience experienced so far as a promotional source forauthors?A:
Watching some authors give up on promotion when it is the key to success. It is hard work for boththe author and the sources that they choose to help promote them
.
After years of writing, researching,publishing and now promoting it us sad to see an author give up when he or she should continually beadding to their promotional toolbox in order to keep the focus on their book (s).
Q: What one positive piece of advice would you give to authors seeking book promotion?A:
Do your research and compare what you get for your money. Spend wisely and do some promotionon your own. Most importantly; find promotional resources like Books In Sync who value your time aswriter, do most if not all of the work for you, and leaving you more time to write.
