At rst, only drive-through tours were permitted,but as interest continued to mount, the need or a perma-nent visitor center became clear. A site was selected in themid-1960s, and in August 1967, the rst ocial visitor cen-ter was opened. Since then it has undergone a number o expansions and upgrades.Te Visitor Complex today eatures a wide variety o exhibits and activities related to the space program, includ-ing guided bus tours o Kennedy and Cape Canaveral AirForce Station.A space station-themed icket Plaza-Entranceway wel-comes guests. Shuttle Plaza:
