ennedy Space Center’s new world-classLaunch Vehicle Data Center (LVDC) was successully christened with the April 7,2001, launch o a Delta II rocket boosting the 2001 Mars Odyssey spacecra toward theRed Planet. About 100 managers and engi-neers rom KSC, the Jet Propulsion Labora-tory and other sites monitored the launch inHangar AE on Cape Canaveral Air ForceStation (CCAFS).Te new LVDC has three control roomsto support multiple and larger operations.Te three rooms have replaced the singleLVDC control room used since the mid-1970s.“It was a challenge to congure our oldsetup and space was tight,” said AE Opera-tions Director Stephen Cox o the old 950-square-oot room. Te three rooms total 2,511square eet.
 At the dedication of the upgraded Launch Vehicle Data Center in Hangar AE, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.,attendees got a close look at the new consoles. Seated on the right is Steve Francois, program manager, ExpendableVehicles and Payload Carriers.
