InformationBACKGROUND:MeasureAwaspassedbyvotersin2005andgeneratedapproximately$3.2millionannually.MeasureHwaspassedbyvotersin2008andgeneratedapproximately$4.5millionannually.Theircombined$7.7millioninfundinghelpedoffsetcutsbytheStateofCaliforniatosupportteacherstaffing,schoolcounselling,musicprograms,athleticprogramsandadvancedplacementcourses,amongotherprograms.BothparceltaxeshavebeenreplacedbyanewMeasureA,whichwasapprovedbyAlamedavotersinMarchof2011for$12million.AttachedyouwillfindthefinalexpenditurereportforMeasuresAandMeasureH.FISCALIMPLICATIONS:ClosureofMeasuresAandHParcelTaxforacombinedtotalof$7.7million.RECOMMENDATION:Receiveinformationassubmitted.AUSDGuidingPrinciple:#5-Accountability,transparencyandtrustarenecessaryatalllevelsoftheorganization.#6-Allocationoffundsmustsupportourvision,missionandguidingprinciples.Submitted

MeasureAwaspassedonJanuary7,2005toimproveeducationinAlamedaschools,retainexperiencedteachersandattractnewqualifiedteachers,retainteachingspecialistsinreading,mathandscience,preserveeducationalprogramsinmusicandart,andtomaintainsmallclasssizes.MeasureHwaspassedonJune8,2008asanemergencyparceltaxduringthe2008-09fiscalyeartooffsetseverebudgetcutstoAlamedaschools,minimizeschoolclosures,protectthequalityofeducation,studentsafety,classsizes,excellentteachersandstaff,andtorestoreprioritizedcutstomusic,athletics,advancedplacementcourses,andotherprograms.BothMeasureAandHexpiredinthefiscalyear2010-11.
