i figured out the subtitle prob ...had to click on the little red exclamation point then "example.pas" to get the menus working. oh by the way, when i run the job with gordian knot it uses "video dub" software that i had downloaded (for exactly the same purpose) a while ago. was sort of surprised to see that but it works like a charm. for example, it automatically fits oversize subtitles onto the screen. in any case, thanx again dude. there's no way i'd ever be able to figure it out by myself. how the hell anybody could figure out the ctrl F8 is beyond me, not to mention saving the subtitle file as subrip.srt (there's like a hundred possible options to choose from) i've titled 2 movies so far. i am one happy camper.

The whole process works. The Alt-F8 trick is very subtle. Unfortunately, the AVI created is not the same quality as the original. I created an AVI using CamStudio (recording a screen session) for the purpose of showing how to do certain things with a particular software. After adding subtitles, the AVI becomes unusable - flickers, out of sequence, ... Tried different settings to noavail.
