Cybersecurity work done at the Research, Development and Engineering Commands communications-electronics center looks at the current and emerging cyberspace landscape to better predict and prepare for future challenges posed by evolving technologies. CERDEC aims to enable cyber situational awareness, or CyberSA, and a collaborative cyber support approach through enhanced capabilities in network operations and network warfare.
CERDECs work in network operations aims to enable the Warfighter with the means to ensure the security, survivability, and agility/resiliency of tactical and strategic information systems at all classification levels in the face of cyber attack. NetOps functions: Plan and engineer the network Install and operate the network Maintain the network Protect network services Defend the network Maintain CyberSA
CERDECs work in network warfare seeks to mitigate the threat posed by Voice, Video and Data services provided on a common packet switched network with multiple ubiquitous connectivity options.
NetWar functions: Analyze adversary networks and TTPs Collect against adversary networks Attack adversary networks Maintain CyberSA
