t is a joy for me to welcome all Hart-wick and State University Collegeat Oneonta students back this fall.I say “back” because evenif you are in your first year,undoubtedly you visited One-onta as part of the process youconducted to make a decisionto come here for your highereducation experience. Tothose of you who are beyondyour first year and are return-ing for the fall semester, weare happy also to have youback in the city.As college students, almostall of you are city residents,whether you live on campus orin the community. Regardlessof where you live, you havethe same rights, privileges andresponsibilities as all of ourcitizens. I hope you will enjoyshopping downtown, attending eventsat Foothills and the Oneonta Theatre,and passing through and living in ourneighborhoods.Having worked in both public andprivate higher education, I can saywith some confidence that Oneontais one of the best college towns in allof North America. Our city’sneighborhoods, shopping,parks and other amenitiesare easily available to you. Ihope you will take advantageof them and enjoy them. Ihope, too, that you will enjoymeeting people who live inour neighborhoods and workhere as employees or businessowners.
