The reason for posting this one is because, like my entire onsen database, are considered some of the best in the world, and one of the key reason for visiting Japan. One distinguishable feature though for Asama Onsen is that there is no landscape. The best onsen hotels are built into the neighborhood suburban(scape). In other words, there is no countryside feel, but more of a homely feel that I consider to be quite rare, especially given the natural dynamic of both landscape and hot spa. The hotel we stayed at is called the Higashi Ishikawa Hotel. Aside from being on the pricey side, this was a great Japanese style ryoukan. Legendary customer service is what you can expect at most reputable establishments. All of our expectations were met, and then some. The rooms were clean and well stocked with refreshments. The rooms were clean and well maintained, while still keeping the traditional feel. Room service was prompt and the onsen was available for us 24 hours. Futons were laid out for us after we returned to our rooms from dinner and an evening out on the town. There was so much good hospitality there, and we left satised.
