Discipline in School

By Muhammad Alfian Wahyu Gumelar

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb Excellency, our beloved teacher Ms. Wira. Honorable, all of my beloved friends. Before I begin this speech, I have something to say. Surely, let us thank to Allah S.W.T., the highest lord in this universe, who has given his blessing and mercies to all of us, so we could meet here right now. And the second thing, let us send our peace and salutation tothe messenger of Allah, Muhammad S.A.W. He is the one who has brought us from darkness to lightness, from stupidity to cleverness, and from jahilliyah to Islamiyah. In this good opportunity, I would deliver my speech to you. The speech about school discipline. Discipline is essential for everyone. Discipline is a habit of obedience that comes from IQ, EQ, and SQ skills at once.Someone will feel something less if he/she doesnt do something he/she usually does. This is what we call discipline. As for example of this: I do shalat five times a day. But if I leave one of them, I will cry. Why do I cry? Because of I am disciplined. I always do shalat every day. Now, will you cry if you cannot come to school to learn? Will you cry if you do not complete your assignment? Will you cry if you do not do your obligation to clean the class? No! I thought you will not. Why? Because of you are not disciplined. If it was Monday, we were going to make flag ceremony. Suddenly, the bell was ringing, would you run to the field? No, you would not. Instead you would still have fun with your friends. It means that you are not disciplined. Another example, do you really do your obligation to clean the class? Why not? Every one of us just has to do the obligation once a week, dont we?Why is the class still full of rubbish when every new teacher gets into our class? It means that we do our obligation with half heart. And it means that we are not disciplined. That was just few examples of how undisciplined we are. Do you ever go to Australia? There, twenty minutes before the school bell is ringing, the students have been ready in their class. And do you ever wonder why we often lose against China in badminton competition? Because of we are less disciplined. In China, if the school bell rings at 7.00, the students never come at 7.01. And now, look at ourselves. Do we have discipline like them? No!

And now, a question for me. How to discipline ourselves? There are three steps to be disciplined. First, dont put yourself down for being undisciplined. You must kick your laziness out. You must force yourself! Try to make your mood good to do your obligation! The second one, create an action plan form. You must put these things to your plan form: 1. Action For example, go to school. 2. Time to Begin Write down the time you must begin to do your obligation. For example, 7.00 am. 3. Possible Problems Write down all possible problems that may come when you are doing your obligation. For example, get a flat tire. 4. Strategies to Overcome the Problems Think about the strategies to overcome those problems, and then write them all down. For example, bring a reserve tire. 5. Progress Report Put this header to write later. After you have done your obligation, write a report of its progress, was successful or unsuccessful. The third step, implement your plan.Keep forcing yourself! I know it will be hurtful. But, when you have finished it, you will feel the gain. No pain, no gain. I told you how to discipline yourself. And the last thing I want to say, dont give up! You might not achieve the full results you hoped for. But, keep trying! If your mood extremely gets down, think about the gain you are going to get. It will help. Being disciplined trains us to control ourselves. With discipline, we understand how to appreciate time. If we are more disciplined, we can do the work more effectively and more efficient.Andour success level will higher, wont it? Ok, that is all my speech. Please apologize me of all my minus. And thank you very much for your time. Wassalamualaikum Wr. Wb.
