HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It was first used by IBM in theearly 1980¶s. Initially, it was known as GML (General Markup Language). HTMLis a complete code that allows the user to create web pages. It includes text andgraphics. You can add links to your web pages. Hyper links are the highlighted textor images that connect to other pages on the web.

Parts of HTML document:

Head Section: The head section contains the Title that identifies the first part of your HTML coded documents.

Body Section: The body section is where you do most of the works thatincludes text, graphics and other HTML elements that provide control andformatting of a page like: fonts, paragraphs, lists and other elements.
Tags:
HTML is a tag based language. Tag is an element, which instructs the web browser, what to show and how to show. We can use various attributes in the tagsthat contain additional information like formatting effects, alignment, colors etc.

ach tag giving a specific instruction is enclosed in <> angle brackets.The HTML document starts with <html> tag.The <title. Tag has to be placed in the<head>tag.The<body> tag has various other tags and attributes.The opening taghas to be ended. But, there are some other tags that do not require closing of tag.The tags are not case sensitive.
