There are 9 quizzes, each worth 2 points. I will not give any make-upquizzes. I will drop two quizzes with the lowest grades. The remaining 7 quizzes willaccount for 14 points toward your course grade.
Homework exercises are listed in the course outline. You are encouraged to 1) read thetext and 2) work all the multiple choice questions before each class, and 3) do thesuggested exercises after each class. I will illustrate some of the suggested exercise problems in class.
I will not take attendance. However, it is critical to your success (especially in anintroductory course like this) that you attend each session. Office hours are not asubstitute for coming to class. Problems worked in class will not be availableelectronically. Consult a classmate or the answer manual if you miss a class. It is also
important to come to class prepared, so I expect that you’ve read the day’s material
Use of Computers and Recording Devices
Audio or videotaping of class lectures is prohibited. Students may use laptops to recordtheir notes subject to the following provisions: (1) the computer must be silent; (2)
THECOMPUTER CANNOT BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET.
Students failingto follow these rules will be asked to leave the classroom. Under no circumstances willstudents be allowed to use their computers on exams.
