FT welcomed environmentalprofessionals from around the State of Florida and beyond for our 2011Annual Conference and Exhibition which tookplace from June 5- 7 atthe Lido Beach Resortin Sarasota, FL. Thisyear's conferencewelcomed over 160attendees, 25exhibitors and a hostof annual and eventsponsors. The agendawas full of offeringsthat encouragedindividuals toparticipate inoutstanding networking and businessdevelopment opportunities for the public, privateand non-profit sectors. Presentations from theconference can be viewed on the RFT website byclicking here.The event kicked off with an opening plenarysession where RFT Chair, Susan Chapman,welcomed conference attendees, speakers,sponsors and exhibitors, followed by anintroduction of the keynote speakers, TammyBrister and Kristine Singley of Walt Disney WorldParks and Resorts U.S.® The day continued withuring the Annual Business luncheonRFT awarded four recipients with theRecycling and Waste Reduction Awardin various categories. You truly are theleaders of Florida’s recycling industry. a Legislative Update Hour Panel, which included Representative TrudiK. Williams (R-Ft. Meyers) of the Florida House of Representatives.Participants were able to engage in a question and answer sessionon legislative happenings in the State. An “Environmental RoundRobin” session followed and gave attendees the opportunity to havea round-table discussion of various environmental topics in an openand inviting forum.Day Two kicked off with two concurrent tracks featuring agendatopics on: New Tools for Recycling, New Technologies in Non-Traditional Recycling Programs, Recycling Education, CommercialRecycling, Targeting Higher Fruit, and Policy Mechanisms to AdvanceRecycling. In addition to the concurrent individuals interested inorganics recycling were offered a half day organics workshop lead byJim Reece, RFT Organics chair.The luncheon closed with theannouncement of the newly-elected 2011-2013 Board of Directors:
