Musician’s Playbook
Welcome to Your Playbook
This Playbook is meant to help you begin or rene some ideas and best practices or how to integratesocial experiences into your direct to an strategy to drive results. Beore you get started, we wantedto share our perspective on what music on Facebook means to us so you can best utilize this playbook.
A ew key philosophies we believe in:
Music is inherently social and undamental to a person’s identity.
Whether a lullaby passed down through generations, going to a concert together, or tipping o ariend to a new band, music has always acilitated a connection between people. No longer are welimited by time and distance; thanks to technology we can connect and engage with others all overthe world who share a mutual love o music.
Facebook is all about social connections and cultivating your personal identity.
Music has long been a part o the Facebook experience. From people expressing their music tastesthrough their Interests section to deeply integrated Facebook Connect applications, like Spotiy,people are sharing their interests, avorite tracks and playlists with riends. Since the launch oFacebook in 2004, you have showed us that Facebook users take their music choices seriously.
This is just the beginning o connecting musicians and their ans.
We are now at an important infection point, one where music and technology are intersecting andwhere people are at the center o the experiences. Facebook is laying the groundwork or a moresocial and personalized music industry by enabling a social layer or all music applications andwebsites.Social design is the new standard or the web. The most successul applications and sites make it easyor people to experience music through a lter o their riends to help curate their prole and identity. It will soon be commonplace to easily experience music with riends beyond just going to a concerttogether or listening to the radio in the car with riends. Not only will ans continue to eel a directconnection to the music they are listening to, but they’ll eel a stronger connection to the artists whoare making the music. This presents artists and the music industry with a unique opportunity to tapinto a highly engaged an base to unleash new creative experiences, and many will nd ways to turn itinto economic results. It’s a new rontier or music and tech. Together, we can make music even more social. Let’s get started.
