Mac OS X Mail Keyboard Shortcuts
February 13, 2006Did you know you can use yourkeyboardto quickly accomplish many tasks in Mac OS X Mail? Apple has builtinto Mail many shortcuts for common commands, look in the menus of the Mail application or see the menushortcuts below. To do an action, press the keys indicated below. Keep in mind the list is pretty long and it willbe quite hard to remember them all. (Hint:Printout this page and keep it handy next time you are working inMail)
Working with the Mail application
Create new compose window: Command-NGet new mail: Command-Shift-NOpen new viewer window: Command-Option-NOpen Activity Viewer: Command-0 (zero)Open Page Setup dialog: Command-Shift-PAdd senders to Address Book: Command-YApply rules to selection:Command-Option-LUse selection for Find: Command-EFind text in a single message body: Command-FFind previous: Command-Shift-GFind next: Command-GCopy entire text of a message: Select the message title in the message list and press Command-CMinimize window: Command-MDisplay a pop-up menu with commands for creating, sending, and retrieving mail: Press and hold the Mail iconin the DockSwitch between different display settings in the toolbar: Hold down the Command key and click the toolbarbutton in the upper-right corner
