It has been another fruitful year forGenesis World Mission. We praise God forhis abundant provision and celebrate theopening of a permanent clinic in Kenya inpartnership with our friends there lastAugust. So many needy people are nowgetting high-quality, affordable health carethrough the clinic. It’s astounding tobelieve that this strong operation grewfrom the seedling of conversations we had just two and a half years ago.At home, the Garden City CommunityClinic and Volunteer Physicians Network both continue to take long strides inmaturing. These projects are effectinglasting changes in our patients’ health andliving situations. SINCE ITS ESTABLISHMENT IN 2001, GENESIS WORLD MISSION, INC. HASGROWN A VARIETY OF PROJECTS TO FULFILL ITS MISSION AS A NON-DENOMINATIONAL CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION: TO CONVEY THE LOVE OF JESUSCHRIST BY MEETING THE PHYSICAL, MEDICAL, AND SPIRITUAL NEEDS OF THE LESSFORTUNATE, BOTH GLOBALLY AND LOCALLY.
Genesis provides sustainable diagnostic and medical treatment servicesto economically disadvantaged individuals through local and interna-tional partnerships. This vision includes supporting short-term missiontrips with supplies, training and leadership. Active projects are locatedin Kenya and India—two of over 20 countries served since the estab-lishment of Genesis World Mission.
INTERNATIONAL—THE HEART AND SOUL OF GENESISGARDEN CITY COMMUNITY CLINIC—OUR FLAGSHIP PROJECT
Garden City Community Clinic (GCCC) provides medical services tolow-income, uninsured patients by utilizing volunteer health care pro-fessionals. Care includes treatment of acute non-emergent and limitedchronic illnesses, medications, and referrals for specialty care. On-sitebasic dental services, social work visits, patient medical education,mental health counseling and referrals to specialists are also available.
VOLUNTEER PHYSICIANS NETWORK—NEW KID ON THE BLOCK
Volunteer Physicians Network (VPN) is a referral network of specialtyphysicians, labs and hospitals who’ve agreed to donate medical care topatients of three Ada County safety-net clinics: Family Practice Medi-cal Center, Terry Reilly Health Services-Boise, and GCCC. VPN wasestablished in 2006, first under a federal grant, then sustained by com-munity funding under Genesis.
FRUSTRATED
I came to Garden CityCommunity Clinic two yearsago. At the time, I workingin home care for adults withmental illness or develop-mental disabilities and my jobdid not offer health insurance.My anxiety attacks weredebilitating. I called aroundthe community and nobodywould offer to help.
HOPEFUL
I called the Clinic and theyprayed with me on the phone.That really helped me calmdown and they scheduled atime for me to come in thatevening. I started feelingbetter right after that phonecall.
SCARED
The clinic provided me withanxiety medication and bloodwork for my Hepatitis C. Itshowed high activity levelsand I was referred to Dr.Schutz, a gastroenterologist.While looking at my liverthrough the ultrasound, thehospital staff found a 10pound tumor in my uterus. Iwas scared! They ordered aCAT scan that day and an OBGyn referral was made to Dr.Agrusa at OBGyn Associates.
COORDINATION
Together, the two doctorscoordinated the timing of liver treatments, since myHepatitis treatments neededto be done after the tumorwas treated.I was referred to the “Be InCharge” program, which paidfor the seven months of livertreatment shots.
TRAJEDY
Then, just two months into treatment, myhusband was in a car accident and brokehis neck, leaving him a paraplegic.Because I’m taking care of my husband, Iam unable to work full time.
HEALING
Today there is no sign of the Hep C virusin my blood stream. I got far more thanmedical care here at GCCC. I receivedemotional support around my husband’saccident and prayed with volunteers duringclinic hours. I wouldn’t have been takencare of if the Clinic wasn’t there. I wouldhave died by now with all my problems. Ithas been a Godsend.

It’s been 14 years since I was addicted todrugs and alcohol, but my past meth usehas left me with crumbling teeth, so nowI’m getting served at the dental clinic too.I love them and have high respects foreverybody here who cares how much I’mdoing. Thank you.
