EXT. CARRIE CRESCENT- NIGHTIn a suburban neighborhood, under orange light, a creaturecrawls the streets in a FIRST PERSON view. It is creepingfast, going along the curb side, seemingly without aim.EXT. 50 CARRIE CRESCENT - NIGHTBut then it turns at a house, house "50," and goes into thegrass. Through this unkempt lawn bugs and insects are seen.The creature goes up the side of this house and climbsthrough a broken window.INT. 50 CARRIE CRESCENT, LIVING ROOM - NIGHTThe creature, now bathed in moon light, goes up the nearest wall and nests in the corner so that it has a view over the(living) room ahead and the main foyer. Here it stays untilNIGHT turns into DAY.INT. 50 CARRIE CRESCENT, LIVING ROOM - DAYThe creature watches the front door of the main foyer swingopen. A single mother, in her twenties, blonde, fair, andpretty, enters the house with her son of about five.MICHELLE, who is carrying a large box, beckons MICHAEL tostay still.Michael spins and looks around.MICHAELOh boy! A new house! It's so big!MICHELLE(struggling with box)C'mon. Don't run off on me now.Michael heads into the living room, where he takes looks atthe creature. The creature looks back. Michelle joins herson.MICHAELLook... A spider! He lives heretoo!She winces when she spots the fat spider with its oversized web in the corner of the ceiling.MICHELLE(winces)Ooh, yuck.
 
Michelle puts down her box.MICHELLE (CONT'D)Stay here. I'm gonna get anewspaper or something.MICHAELDon't kill it. It's an innocentcreature.While the spider is crawling along its web a rolled up magazine suddenly smashes it into a pulp.MICHELLEGot it!Michelle falls to the ground after her jump and appearsproud with the rolled up magazine in her hand. Michaelhowever is awestruck.MICHAELOh no.Michelle puts a hand on Michael's shoulder.MICHELLEIt's okay. He's in a better place.MICHAEL(looks up at Michelle)Heaven?MICHELLEWell, it does start with an "H."EXT. 50 CARRIE CRESCENT - DAYFrom the back of a white van Michelle picks up her finalbox. She starts going up the walkway. As she does so she isstopped by her neighbor from house number 52.BETTY (O.S.)Hey, kid.MICHELLEHuh?Michelle turns her head to see who is talking. Across from her is Betty, a woman in her 40s that looks way older thanshe really is. Betty takes a long drag from her cigarette.She is quite off-putting.BETTYWhat're you doing?MICHELLE
 
Uh, I'm moving into my house. I'm your new neighbor.BETTYIs that so?Michael is heard in the nearby distance, running around, andgiggling. Michelle puts down her box and extends her handover to Betty.MICHELLEI'm Michelle.Betty doesn't shake Michelle's hand. Too busy smoking.BETTYYou know the history of thathouse, right?MICHELLEWhat about it?BETTYSeveral people were murdered inthere. Some say the place ishaunted.Michelle is dumbfounded.BETTY (CONT'D)I'm just fucking with you. It'sperfectly fine.MICHELLEOh! Er, ha! Very funny! You have agood sense of humor.Michelle picks up her box again and goes into her house.BETTYIf you need anything let me know.INT. 50 CARRIE CRESCENT, MASTER BEDROOM - NIGHTMichelle and Michael are together in bed, on a cheap blowup mattress. They are under a thin blanket. Both are staring upat the textured ceiling.MICHAELMom?MICHELLEYeah?MICHAELHow come I never get to see dadanymore?
