We have just had a three day and two night vacation on PEIwith the daughter and the grand granddaughter. A ne time washad by all but seemed especially enjoyable to the Carmen Kid.A major event was the joy o being allowed on the roller coasterthat last year she had been denied access because she was toosmall. So, riding the roller coaster this year was kind o a rite o passage that moved her along the road toward being a Big Kid.In other news, Mikie has moved along his goal towards beinga Big Kid by getting his backhoe attachment all hooked up andworking. Te very big job o road repair has now begun. Havinggotten the backhoe attached once to the tractor, subsequentconnections should go a air bit easier but it will still likely tobe a major pain in the butt. One o the things that I noted orthe missus was that the average PEI armer usually has our ormore tractors. o some o you, who are tractor impaired, thismay seem excessive, but i you have ve attachments and only one tractor to work with … you might spend hal o your work day switching back and orth. Dig a trench with backhoe, oopsneed to bush whack some o those alders, oops where did that 12inches o snow come rom, attach snow blower, oops better haulout some wood beore more snow, attach wood trailer. Are youbeginning to see my point!!! A 12 hour day and only 6 o themactually doing something useul.And o course there is the pride actor. No oense to PEIarmers, but I hate to see New Brunswickers playing secondddle just or the sake o not having a couple o extra tractors.Carmen and I are not the only one’s trying to transition to beingBig Kids. Te Jet has been working on his own rite o passage.A month ago he had a close encounter with a porcupine. A ewdays ago he had a closer encounter. Apparently Te Jet was notalone in his love or apples!! Without even a yelp he managedto pick up a dozen or so quills in his nose and upper lip. Sincehe had no quills in his mouth it would seem that he was justtrying to be riendly with this airly young porky. Due to hisyouth none o the quills were more than an inch or so in lengthand about hal o that was sticking out. So with pliers in handTe Jet had his Big Kid rite o passage. While he would strugglea bit when you got near his nose with the pliers, he never whinednor complained at all when they were extracted. What a Big Boy he was!!!
