On the next page, enter a title and abrief description of the site in the Notestext box.

Enter the tags (keywords) you want toassociate with the bookmark in the Tagstext box. Tags will make it easier to findthe bookmark later. They should beseparated by a space (do not add acomma). If you want to create a tag withtwo words, use an underscore (such associal_bookmarking).

Check the box next to “Do Not Share” if you want to save the bookmark as aprivate bookmark only you can see (moreon security later in this guide).

Click on Save to add the bookmark toyour Delicious account.To save a bookmark using a browser button:
1.
Open the URL of the web page you wantto bookmark using your web browser.
2.
Click on the post to delicious button inyour browser’s toolbar (the appearanceof the button will vary according to theweb browser you’re using).

This will open a page where you can addyour notes and any tags you want toassociate with the bookmark (it is thesame window you would see if you weresaving the bookmark on the Deliciouswebsite).

Click on Save to add the bookmark toyour Delicious account and return to theweb page.While you are saving a bookmark (either byvisiting the Delicious website or using yourbrowser buttons) you will see two tabs at thebottom of the screen. These tabs display listsof tags you can add to your bookmark. Toadd a tag from one of these lists to yourbookmark, double-click on the tag.The Tags tab is organized into the followingsections (click on the disclosure triangle tosee the tags in each section):

Recommended: tags suggested by deliciousbased on the tags you and other peoplehave used.
•
Popular: tags other people have used totag the page you’re bookmarking.
•
All my tags: shows all of your tags in a tagcloud. The darker the color of the tag inthe cloud, the more pages you’ve savedwith that tag.
•
Tag bundles: shows your tags organized bybundles (the delicious equivalent of folders).The People tab shows the people in yourDelicious network. To share a bookmark withsomeone on your network, double-click ontheir name on this tab to add a special “for:”tag that includes their Delicious user name.
Importing Bookmarks
To import your browser’s bookmarks intoDelicious:
1.
Click on the Settings link at the top of any page Delicious page, then underBookmarks click on Import/UploadBookmarks.

The first step is to export yourbookmarks from your web browser into afile. At the top of the page you will seedirections for how to do this. Thesedirections should match the web browseryou’re currently using, but you can clickon a link to see directions for other webbrowsers.

Once you have saved your bookmarks in afile, click on the Browse or Choose Filebutton and locate the bookmarks file onyour hard drive.

By default, the “imported” tag will beadded to your imported bookmarks, butyou can add other tags by typing them inthe text box. For example, you couldorganize your bookmarks by browserusing each browser’s name as a tag.

Using the radio buttons, set a privacylevel for the imported bookmarks (publicor private) and choose whether or notyou want to let Delicious add populartags.

There is also a radio button for handlingduplicates. Make sure this is set to “Onlyimport bookmarks I don’t already have”so you don’t overwrite your existingDelicious bookmarks with the ones beingimported from your web browser.

If you have a lot of bookmarks it maytake a while for the import to complete.Check the box at the bottom of the pageif you want to receive a notificationemail once the import is completed.

Click on Import Now.
Viewing Your Bookmarks
To view your bookmarks, click on Bookmarkson the navigation bar at the top of anyDelicious page. This will display a list of yourbookmarks. By default they will beorganized by date, with the most recentbookmarks appearing first. To view olderbookmarks, scroll to the bottom of the pageand click on the Next link. To see more
