The Mecosta County Rod &un Club will be holding a Red Birdackup shoot on Sept. 17, 2011. Signp starts at 9:30 a.m. and roundsill start at 10 a.m. A $1 coin will be warded or hitting a white clay targetnd a plaque will awarded or highcore.   An AARP Drivers Saety Programill be oered in September throughhe Mecosta County Commission onging.Classes will run rom 12:30 to 4:30.m. on Sept. 20 and 22. The class-oom course will help older drivers be-come more aware o their changes in vision, hearing and reaction time andhow to adjust their driving accordingly. There are no tests in the two our-hour sessions. Attendees will go overbasic rules o the road and typical tra-fc violations elderly drivers commit.State government passed legisla-tion encouraging auto-insurance com-panies to grant adults 50 and older adiscount on their auto insurance orcompleting a drivers saety course. Attendees should consult their insur-ance agents to see what discounts areavailable. The cost is $12 or AARP mem-bers and $14 or non members. Formore inormation or to sign up or thecourse, call the senior center at (231)972-2884.

Dances are being held rom 7to 11 p.m. the third Saturday o eachmonth at the Mecosta VFW. The danc-es are open to the public and cost$5 admission. The Lost Country Bandplays during the dances.
