ASSIGNMENT 1 MATHEMATICS Consider topics of interest to you that involved collecting data about a characteristic shared by two populations.

Formulate five questions that involve collecting qualitative (categorical) data and five questions that involve collecting quantitative (numerical) data. For each question, identify the type of data that will be collected and an appropriate way to display the data (e.g., line graph, bar graph, histogram, pie chart, stem and leaf plot, box plot). Choose one out of the five questions that you have formulated and collect the appropriate data. After data collection has been done, analyse the data to answer the questions that you have formulated. You are then required to write a report on this investigation. In the report, you are advised to provide a brief introduction your topic, why it interests you and what you expect to find out from this exercise. Give the details on how the data was collected, you sampling choice etc., your choice of data presentation and why, your analysis of the data and what you conclude from it. Discuss your result and give recommendation or suggestion if you think you can still improve your data collection and analysis. The report is to be type-written, approximately six pages in length, using 12-point, times new roman, one and a half spacing. This assignment requires you to work in groups of three. Choose your group members and discuss the possible topics and start working straight away. You are given 1 month to complete this assignment. Please submit on the 14th of October 2011, by email, to madihahk@hotmail.com.
