Aww. What a sweet story. I wirte my own stories too. Have you ever heard of FictionPress? It's a site where people write out their stories and post them. People read them and then review. Although it really is sweet (I promise I'm not lying), the story goes by too fast. You have to put some detail into it. Stretch it out as long as possible, expecially if the story ends after a few years. Short stories, called one-shots, have much detail and is usually about one certain moment, rather than a lifetime. I think you have a lot a potential for a good story. Check out FictionPress and see how you like it. I loved it from first visit. Post your story and see how people think of it. Some people, (like me) comment on your writing. Learn what they like and then make changes. Good luck!
