BROADCASTER RRI/VOI TO MARK INTERNATIONAL DEMOCRACY DAY WITH FOCUS ON YOUTH

12 September 2011 | Jakarta Democracy is a universally recognized ideal: this according to a UN General Assembly resolution from 2007 that also proclaimed that the 15th of September should provide an annual opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world. In a year when democracy movements have reshaped the political landscape in several countries, often with the active participation of young people, the question of how to strengthen democracy through the active participation of youth could not be more timely, especially in Asias largest democracies. To mark the International Day of Democracy in Jakarta, public broadcaster Radio Republik Indonesias (RRI) Voice of Indonesia service will organize, with the collaboration of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Jakarta, a live radio talk show on this years global theme: Youth and Democracy. The event will feature the following panelists: H.E.
