Pattern Sort Color Code Sentences Blind Sort Spelling Test

Spelling Sorts
Pattern Sort Sort your words based on spelling patterns/features, as we did in school. Use the headers and guide words at the top of each category to begin your sort. Blind Sort Write your guide words across the top of a piece of paper. Have a partner call your words out to you, one at a time. You should not be able to see the words. Write each word in the correct category. Next, use your word list to help you correct the paper. Write a score on your paper. Speed Sort Sort your words as quickly as possible under the given guide words. Sentences Chose 10 of your spelling words and write a fifth grade sentence using the word.

Choice Activities
Word Hunt Find at least 3 words that match each guide words. They should follow the same spelling patterns / features. Write them down under the correct guide word. Ransom Words Spell 10 of your words by cutting out letters in a newspaper or magazine and glue them onto your paper. SAW sort, alphabetize, and write your words. Color Code Write your words using a color code to show the pattern/feature in each word. The pattern/feature part of your word should be a color and the rest of the word should be in pencil.
