Report No. 13, Committee on Woman's Work
1. We recommend that provision be made at Wembo Nyama for the
leadership training of single girls who have completed the station
schools; that a missionary other than the missionary appointed to the
Girls' Home, and one who has sufficient time to devote to it, be
appointed to this work. We further recommend thatan item of $300.00
be included in the 1941 askings for woman's section to provide a
building and an item of $120.00 be included to provide for the
maintenance of this project.
2. In view of the very pressing need for training Christian women
we recommend the establishrr, ent of a Girls' Home at Lodja.

Hortense Murry
One day there was heard the chant of the hammock men, nnd
down the narrow path came Hortense Murry with shi ning eyf!R
and a radiant smile. With outstretched arms she stepped out of
the hammock iT)to her work and into the hearts of the Congo people.
Her name is significant of her place in the hearts of these pE'O
pIe, Mama Ngandji, "Mama Love." How she lovee! these Congo
people, those old and forsa ken. the young' and stalwart and the
tiny babies ! She spent fOllr years at Tuncl a working in the hospital,
she made trips into the villages trying to help t he women especially,
and to this day there are ahvays many who ask about her, " W h e n ~
is she?" "Will she return?"
It iR with sad hearts that the answer comes, "No, she will not re
turn, she has been called on another journey, she has entered that
door in to the house eternal, not made with hauds. We have just
learned of the accident in America that ended her work here on
earth.
Hortense was so bright, smiling, and cheerful as she went about:
diligently doing the things she came to do. Only four short yean; :
