High Pressure Low Volume Water Screen Cleaning System


The High Pressure Low Volume Pressure Washer is highly recommended for cleaning shaker screens. During normal operations shaker screens can be blinded by sand, silt, clay and/or polymers. Polyacrylamide polymers have an affinity for steel and the long chains used for viscosity and encapsulation tend to blind shaker screens. Removal of the particles imbedded in the screen layers as well as polymer requires a high pressure water source. The KTPW-86-6 Pressure Washer at 1200 psi, accomplishes this with only 6 liters per minute of water.

Drilling Mud Dewatering Unit 100% Solids Removal


Why Dewatering is Necessary The Kem-Tron Drilling Mud Dewatering Unit provides a drilling rig with a way to avoid dumping whole (liquid) mud into the reserve pit (sump) and still maintain the desired drilling mud properties. This is necessary where the discharge of liquid waste is restricted, particularly for environmental reasons. Dewatering also allows return of clear water to the mud system, thus minimizing water usage. Traditional Closed Loop systems consisting of a Shale Shaker, Desander, Desilter and Solids Control Centrifuge help retain valuable chemicals while removing fine solids from 2 to 74 microns and up. However, the above mentioned equipment is unable to prevent the build-up of ultra fine or colloidal solids. Nothing can remove them with the exception of particle destabilization and flocculation (dewatering).
A few of the problems associated with the accumulation of colloidal solids:

Pore plugging of producing formation. Stuck drill pipe due to poor lubricity characteristics of the wall cake. Slow drill bit penetration caused by increased plastic viscosity. Increased mud density and gel strengths that lead to a loss of whole mud to the formation.

HYDROFOIL AGITATORS
Advantages
The Hydrofoil impeller's advantage is its flow efficiency. Hydrofoil impellers also inherently provide mechanical design advantages: Smaller diameters and shorter shafts can often be used since they produce pure axial flow and can provide good bottom mixing. Less side force, lower bending moments, and corresponding longer life for gear reducers and shaft seals can be realized due to lack of radial flow components. At equal flow,the Hydrofoil impeller allows a sizable decrease in torque (up to 50%). This results in increased gear reducer life and often smaller gear reducers, which reflect in a direct cost savings.

The need for a more efficient impeller becomes apparent as electrical and maintenance costs continue to climb. JET SHEARING AND MIXING SYSTEMS


Bentonite, polymers and other powder additives have traditionally been added to the hopper to impart shear, which assists in achieving the properties needed from drilling mud such as viscosity for hole cleaning, water loss control and filter cake build up. On weighted mud applications, the ability to handle Barite during potential blow-out applications is even more important. The importance of properly applied shear energy and dispersion has lead to the instant success of Kem-Trons shearing and mixing system, model KT-SM 500. For the first time, a specially designed Jet Pump is incorporated into this unique system on the low shear line. This allows liquid additives like biocides, lubricants and liquid polymers to be easily and safely incorporated into the drilling fluid for quick maximum dispersion efficiency and effectiveness. The Jet Shearing system requires a special high pressure pump with 230 feet of head at system inlet.Pump available for 50 and 60 hz systems. In the KT-SM 500 shearing system, mud passing through the hopper venturi is directed to pass through specially designed jet orifices to impart additional shear energy.

Kem-Trons unique design enables smaller pumps to circulate large tank volumes. The mixing eductor is ideal for suspending solids, mixing chemicals and sweeping solids towards an intake.The eductor circulates five gallons of tank fluid for every one gallon pumped. Eductors are available in cast iron, 316 SS or glass reinforced polypropylene. Efficient mixing requires 20 to 70 PSI.
