ARIZONA COMMON SENSE
An Exercise in Aggressive, Non-Partisan Political Activism

Volume 1, Number 3
“The professionof the law, in itsnature thenoblest and most beneficial to mankind, is inits abuse and abasement themost sordid and  pernicious” --Bolingbroke
ARIZONA STAR, TUCSON CITY COUNCIL,LAWYERS SPIN THEMSELVES INTO CORNER ON WARDEN AND THE FIRST AMENDMENT
If Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup thought his arrest last Tuesdayof Tucson community activist Roy Warden was going to stopgrowing public concern regarding the issue of Tucson CityManager Richard Miranda and the apparent theft of morethan one half a million dollars in public funds by Tucson CityAttorney Mike Rankin, he badly miscalculated. And if the Arizona Daily Star thought theirSeptember 18, 2011 storyregarding Warden’s arrest, and their subsequentblocking of Warden’s response to their story, was going toput the final “spin” on the issue, they are mistaken as well. Moreover; if The Star thought that by publishing the opinionsof noted First Amendment attorney Michael Bloom, whoapparently finds Warden’s comments to be “disgusting” andCouncilman Steve Kozachik, who called Warden’s comments “racist, they were going to further shape public opinionregarding Warden’s conduct, they are flat out wrong, wrong, wrong. “I stand by all the things I’ve written or said since I burned aMexican Flag in Armory Park in 2006 in opposition to TucsonCity Open Border Policy and the economic policy of theMexican government, which has been to intentionally excludetheir poor to earn remittances,” Warden said.Warden says he believes the entire Tucson establishment isopposed to his speech because, over the past five years, hehas revealed their vested interest in Open Border Policy.Perhaps Mr. Bloom is “disgusted” by Warden’s opinion thatthe Pima County Bar has a vested financial interest in OpenBorder Policy and the continuation of crime, misery andcontention created by the presence of large numbers of illegalMexican citizens in our community.Maybe Mr. Kozachik finds “racist” Warden’s opinion that Pro-Raza, “Kill the Gringo and send them back to Plymouth Rock” rhetoric is vile, left wing propaganda, or maybe he thinkswhoever burns a Mexican Flag or criticizes an Hispanic publicofficial is a racist, per-se.

Whatever. In 2006 the Southern Poverty Law Center calledWarden a racist and “perhaps the most dangerous characterto emerge in this year’s immigration debate.” You’d think that the partisan dominated media would afford
such a dangerous character
an interview, an opportunity toexpress his viewpoint and embarrass himself, so the publiccould
read his words and see for themselves just what arascal he really is,
wouldn’t you?Not so. Not even once. Warden says he’s had “more thanseveral” substantive interviews with the media, some bynational commentators, none of which has ever seen the lightof day. “CNN Rick Sanchez once told me, ‘Roy, I can sell left wingpropaganda and right wing racism, but nobody will dare topublish what you have to say.’” Warden, who has spent the last 5 years investigating OpenBorder Policy and the corruption of local media and legalinstitutions, says the era of media spin and vituperationregarding his conduct is nearing an end.He says his recent arrest will eventually bring the issue of Open Border Policy and Tucson City corruption into clearpublic view. “Go ahead, Google ‘Transcript of Tucson City Council Meetingon September 13, 2011’ and tell me just what you find to beso objectionable,” Warden says. “I’ve spent half a decade investigating and writing about the ‘Pima County Good Ole Boys’ and the subject of Tucson Citycorruption,” Warden says. “I’ve read numerous court documents and filed Public RecordRequests under Title 39, all of which has revealed theapparent theft of more than one half a million dollars in publicfunds to pay the personal debts of Tucson City Officials, including Tucson City Manager Richard Miranda. “On numerous occasions, ever since May 2011, I’ve broughtthis issue to the attention of Mayor Walkup and the TucsonCity Council and they refuse to look into it, or even commenton it,” says Warden.Instead of taking action on his charges, the Mayor andCouncil have blocked Warden’s speech, called it “impertinent, racist and scandalous,” and have had him arrested.
