Type of shot Mid angle

What is happening in the shot? This shows you a character and some of his surroundings.

This shot has been used to make the audience See how more detail can be shown in a long shot than in a mid-shot. You can see the actor and where they are, you can see the surroundings and more detail, both the characters and the background are important here. This is where the camera is very close to the ground, it shoes the characters authority.

High angle

The man is stood at the bottom of a staircase in what looks like a large house; hes probably wealthy because of his suit and tie.

Low angle

This shows the subject from below, giving them the impression of being more powerful or dominant.

This shows the power in the character, shows how big of a character he is, it doesnt show the bottom half of the character, the authority is high.

Birds eye

The scene is shown from directly above. This is a completely different and somewhat unnatural point of view which can be used for dramatic effect. In the shot the character looks powerful because she is looking down on another character, but you can also see her facial expressions, this is because of a close up. This extreme close up shows you his face, this is important but its even more important to view his glasses because of an image inside them, you can do this because its an extreme close up. This shot shows all of the boys running down a street

This makes the character or the scenery look more spectacular it also has a sense of power, you feel like you own the scene if you are above it.

Close up

Close up shots focus on the actors and the emotion shown by the actor, its a more personal shot and doesnt really focus on the background only the faces.

Extreme close up

Extreme Close up shots focus on the actors and the emotion shown by the character, its a lot more personal than a close up but the background can hardly be seen.

Long shot

The emphasis is on where we are in the drama, the location is very significant, it communicates and tells us about the story

Extreme long shot This extreme long shot gives a larger perspective of the scene The emphasis is on where we are in the drama, the location is very significant, it communicates and tells us about the story. but its a lot more further away

Over the shoulder shot

This shot shows the character and you see it how the other person is seeing it

This is a shot that shows us what the character is seeing, we feel there emotions and identify with the character.
