If you follow instructions, and meet basic standards, you will earn a B or 75% for the medical weeks.

Higher marks are possible; work of a high standard receives an A or higher. After passing the quiz in week 10, you complete three assignments worth 10% each, for a total of 30%. Hand assignments in on time as I do not have time to give extensions. I give feedback during and after each week - so timely completion is important. Ask questions if you have them. I promise to grade assignments in a timely way. I post answers after each assignment to improve your understanding of the material. 1) Week 10 Quiz (pass/fail) The quiz provides a chance to explore some basic medical library concepts. Browse some websites on the pathfinder and HLWIKI Canada for exposure to th30e medical topics. The glossary explains terms such as CISTI, NLM and MeSH. Wiki readings <http://hlwiki.ca> provide overviews to health information. After reviewing materials in week 10, write the quiz. Think carefully before answering. Post your comments about the quiz in the social caf afterwards. I encourage discussion even if you are the first person to write the exam. To pass the quiz, you need 7 correct answers out of 10. 2) Week 11 Search assignment (10%) 3) Week 12 Medical information website evaluation (10%) Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is very popular in Canada. While many benefits are possible in CAM, problems can arise from its use. Library technicians need to know where to find information about CAM. Often, patients buy CAM products without speaking to a nurse, doctor or pharmacist. Some ask the library to help instead. You will need to be prepared to help patrons find, assess and/or evaluate health information on websites using simple evaluation criteria. We will examine these criteria.
