Over the past two to three weeks the Kingston Police Department has received numerous reportsof graffiti along the Broadway Corridor, including the YMCA and locations off Broadway. On9/21/11, information was developed indicating Jason Caffrey, 19 years of age, as a possiblesuspect. Members of the Detective Division and the School Resource Officers went to his lastknown location at 15 Summer Street and located Jason Caffrey. Caffrey was invited toheadquarters where he made full admission/confession to drawing graffiti on 8 separate buildingsin the City of Kingston. Caffrey also admitted to drawing graffiti at the Kings Mall and
Michael’s Crafts in the Town of Ulster.
Detectives did interview the owner of 15 Summer Street and the owner did consent to search herresidence. Inside the residence at 15 Summer Street was numerous spray paint cans and feltmarkers that were used to make graffiti.At this time Jason Caffrey was charged with 9 counts of Making Graffiti and 1 count of possession of graffiti instruments. Further charges of criminal mischief, including felonycriminal mischief are pending. Caffrey will also be charged in the Town of Ulster.
