Short but Exciting

I was amazed at how much stuff the students got done during this short week. I have been very surprised and pleased at this years class. They are a great group who work very hard and I am thankful for the parent support and last years teachers. Now lets take a look at the week. In math the students started Topic 4, One Digit Division. Even though division is a review skill, students will have a hard time during this topic. In reading, the students worked on cause and effect while continuing their novels. In language arts, we are still on the 1st writing trait, Ideas, and we looked at sentence fragments and run-ons. In history, the students

finished Unit 1, Civil War and Reconstruction, with a large test. We also made Civil War podcasts that you can hear at their blogs. In science, we started a new standard, Flow of Energy and Matter. We will be focusing on food chains. In the third round of the Skype Challenge we found Arizona. We sent our first ePals letters and we wrote to India.
