A Box Full Of KissesBy Rudy J Reid
The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a rollof gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried todecorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift toher father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when hefound out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, "Don't you know, when you givesomeone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? The little girl looked up at himwith tears in her eyes and cried, "Oh, Daddy, it's not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy."The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father keptthat gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take outan imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more precious In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings, have been given a gold container filled withunconditional love and kisses... from our children, family members, friends, and God. thanthis. The Man with Four Wives.By Rudy J Reid
There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most andadorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her andgave her nothing but the best.He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to showoff her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might runaway with some other men.He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in factis the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he alwaysturned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficulttimes. Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions inmaintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardlytook notice of her.One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. Hethought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when Idie, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"
Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothingand showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep mecompany?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word. The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart. The sad merchant thenasked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, willyou follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good overhere! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helpedme out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep mecompany?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the verymost, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder andthe merchant was devastated. Then a voice called out : "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." Themerchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like shesuffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have takenmuch better care of you while I could have !"Actually, we all have 4 wives in our livesa. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making itlook good, it'll leave us when we die.b. Our 3rd wife ? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.c. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there forus when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.d. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth andsensual pleasure.
Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go.Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to waituntil we're on our deathbed to lament.
The EchoBy Rudy J Reid
"A son and his father were walking on the mountains.Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain:"AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"He receives the answer: "Who are you?"And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"The voice answers: "I admire you!"Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"He receives the answer: "Coward!"
He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"The voice answers: "You are a champion!"The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.It gives you back everything you say or do.Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;Life will give you back everything you have given to it." YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!"The Rose.By Rudy J Reid
A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it blossomed, heexamined it.He saw the bud that would soon blossom, but noticed thorns upon the stem and hethought, "How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so manysharp thorns? Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and just beforeit was ready to bloom... it died.So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose. The God-like qualitiesplanted in us at birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at ourselvesand see only the thorns, the defects. We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to waterthe good within us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential. Some people do not see the rose within themselves; someone else must show it to them. One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach past the thorns of another, and find the rose within them.
This is one of the characteristic of love... to look at a person, know their truefaults and accepting that person into your life... all the while recognizing thenobility in their soul. Help others to realize they can overcome their faults. If we show them the "rose" within themselves, they will conquer their thorns.Only then will they blossom many times over.
