Cognition Cockpit v5.1October 14, 2008
Configuring Internet Explorer 7 for Cognition Cockpit
Cognition Cockpit will run on Internet Explorer 6 or 7. IE 7 is the preferred version. Support for IE 8 is planned for end of year 2008. Cockpit also works with Firefox if you use the IE tab add-on extension available to Firefox users. Before running Cockpit you should follow the steps in this document to configure your browser.Go to your Cockpit login page on IE-it will usually be something like:http://demo.cognition.usor http://host/cockpit Find your IT Tools menu. It is often near the upper left of the screen but can also be located inother positions. I use IE 7.0.5730.13. If you use another version of IE your menus and commandsmay look slightly different. Note: if you do not see the Tools menu, hold down the keyboard Altkey. Holding down the Alt key will force IE to bring up the menu bar.Go to Tools, Internet Options. You will see this window:©2008 Cognition CorporationPage

Cognition Cockpit v5.1October 14, 2008A new window will open to let you set your trusted sites. You will type in the name of the siteyou want to trust (in this case we want to trust Cockpit) and click Add to add the site to your listof trusted sites.Look in the picture above to see how I typed my trusted sites. The first site is the demo/test public server for Cockpit. This is a public website that I use for training and evaluating Cockpit. If you are using this site for Cockpit evaluation you need to type it the way you see it listed here. The second line/site shows my intranet location for Cockpit at my company. If you are usingCockpit at your company you will type something like this. It is simplyhttp://hostwhere host isthe name of your host at your company where Cockpit is hosted. Your IT group can help you findthe proper address for you to enter. You can also look into your address bar at the top of IE. Atthe Cockpit login screen, where you are right now, you should see something likehttp://host/cockpit/login.asp or some such address. It may be a very long address but all you needto type for trusted sites is the first until you get to the word Cockpit. You will also see a check box in this window about Require server verification. You should leavethis unchecked/blank.©2008 Cognition CorporationPage
