8/10/11Infrastructure Improvements:
1. Complete sidewalk resurfacing and ramp improvements.It is clear as we near the sidewalk resurfacing completion associated with theSewer and Drain Water initiative that the new brick chosen is easier to cleanand configured such that litter and cigarette butts do not get stuck in betweenthe bricks. Additionally we see improved ramps from the sidewalk to thestreet which should be done for every ramp in the square.2. Carl Barron Plaza - Several Opportunities in Carl Barron PlazaCreate a plan that provides a multi-purpose use of CBP, for example:

Create a platform that invites food vendors into this part ofCentral Square.
o
Create a platform that invites organized street entertainmentinto this area.Coordinate having the MBTA bus stops redistributed throughout theSquare to eliminate them from Carl Barron Plaza.Resurface Carl Barron Plaza (CBP) and the MBTA Island so that it is acontiguous area in the absence of the bus stops.3. Monitor and advocate for the MBTA elevator replacement initiative inCentral Square. Add electricity to the circled T sign in Central Square.Replace and improve lighting fixtures at all T entrances and bus stations.
Safety and lighting
1. Lighting ImprovementLighting improvement is a direct correlate to reducing nuisance behavior. Lightstudies are underway to compare to established public lighting standards. Wewould like to see new lighting and additional poles added to the Square and tokey approaches to the Square, including River Street and Prospect. This willinclude underground infrastructure for new lights added, possibly new polesalthough we would explore improved fixtures first if the existing poles could be
