Haiku
An icicle falls,Crashing through a frozen pond.A watery grave.Budding leaves of green,Sway softly in a light breeze;My cat is still dead.Sleeping so softly,He does not see tomorrow:A tear-stained morning.Didn't read the book.This test is impossible.Curse you Letterman.Thirty cloaked in black.Curious, a young girl asks:“Why does mommy cry?”
Limericks
There once was a young man named TedWho wanted to find a new head.But try as he mightHe could not end his plight:With no head our young Ted was quite dead.There once was a man named DefoeWhose stress was beginning to show.With a groan and a sigh,He would curl up and cry;The madhouse is where he'll soon go.Young Alice it seems was quite sad,To part from a Hatter so mad,For in Wonderland,You must understand,There is much more fun to be had.

Life is the nightmare

Death the awakeningI dreamed a dream of misery and pain,Where all that I could see was dark and gloom.Within a world that had long since been doomed;Horizons bathed in lightning, thund'r and rain.Alone, I [crept] across the ashen plains,Lit only by the harsh and bloody moon.I crept along this path towards my tomb,And prayed that soon the sun would rise again.But war had scorched the ground and burnt the skies,While famine caused the stock to waste away.Then pest'lence spread like [ethereal smoke]:Sweet death, the last release for which I prayed.I came upon the tomb, and closed my eyes;I lay down in my grave, and I awoke.
Death 's Awakening ( Sonnet )
I dreamed a dream of misery and pain,Where all that I could see was dark and gloom.Within a world that had long since been doomed;

Horizons bathed in lightning, thund'r and rain.Alone, I traveled 'cross the ashen plains,Lit only by the harsh and bloody moon.I crept along this path towards my tomb,And prayed that soon the sun would rise again.But war had scorched the ground and burnt the skies,While famine caused the stock to waste away.Then pest'lence spread like ethereal smoke:Sweet death, the last release for which I prayed.I came upon the tomb, and closed my eyes;I lay down in my grave, and I awoke.
That Damned Raven ( Imitation

)
based on Edgar Allen Poe's
The RavenWhilst I gaze out through broken glass, I ponder how it came to passThat came a creature quite so crass to perch above my door. Now wonder I what one must do; how can I rid myself of you?I want you gone! Now get! Now shoo! Off from my chamber door!
