Ruffle {Curtain/Headboard} Tutorial

Almost 2 years ago I created a little tutorial on my blog,www.aboyagirlandapug.blogspot.com for a ruffle curtain that I hadmade using 2 flat sheets from Wal-Mart for $8. I should quickly add thatI noticed the price did go up on Wal-Mart’s Mainstay brand sheets to $5a pack in the twin size; so I might have to rename it the $10 rufflecurtain
. Since then I’ve received a lot of e-mails wondering how yougo about making one a little larger using a Queen sized sheet. So, Iwhipped up a new one for myself and instead of using it as a windowcovering, I turned it into an inexpensive Twin headboard. I alsoreorganized and updated the tutorial, so I hope it will be more helpful.I’d call myself an impatient and very basic sewer, so if I can do itanyone can. The ruffles are very forgiving and hide the occasionalmistakes well. Please feel free send me an e-mail ataboyagirlandapug@gmail.comif you get stuck and have any questions.

1.
Grab 2 sets of Queen sized flat sheets. I like the Mainstay™ brandfrom Wal-Mart; they have a huge selection of colors and they sell the flatsheets individually for around $12 a piece. Just be sure to pick up 2 and makesure you grab the FLAT and not the fitted.2. Iron both sets to get out all the wrinkles.3. Grab a sheet and laying it flat begin cutting out your strips. Usethe chart below for the measurements. I recommend first cutting off the top 4inch hem, you know the top part closest to your face if it’s on a bed.

You’ll be cutting 8 strips from this 1
st
panel. 7 of these strips will be measuring90 x 12.25 inches. And the final strip (PIECE 1) will be 90 x 12 inches. It’sshorter in width because we’re going to go ahead and take advance of the factthat it has a hem on the bottom all ready.
4.
Take your 2
nd
panel and cut out the remaining pieces.
