T-Niv Bible
Psalm 23 A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name\u2019s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,e
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

American Standard Version
PSALM 23
1Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not
want.
2He maketh me to lie down in green
pastures; He leadeth me beside still
waters.
3He restoreth my soul: He guideth me in
the paths of righteousness for his
name's sake.
4Yea, thou I walk through the valley of

the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy
staff, they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the

presence of mine enemies: Thou hast
anointed my head with oil; My cup
runneth over.

6Surely goodness and lovingkindness

shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of
Jehovah for ever.

Amplified Bible
PSALM 23
1THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed,
guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
2He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender]
green pastures; He leads me beside the
still and restful waters.
3He refreshes and restores my life (my

self); He leads me in the paths of
righteousness [uprightness and right
standing with Him--not for my earning it,
but] for His name's sake.

4Yes, though I walk through the [deep,

sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear or dread no evil, for You are
with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your
staff [to guide], they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before me in the
presence of my enemies. You anoint my
head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs
over.
6Surely or only goodness, mercy, and
unfailing love shall follow me all the
days of my life, and through the length

of my days the house of the Lord [and
His presence] shall be my dwelling
place.

Bible in Basic English
PSALM 23
1The Lord takes care of me as his
sheep; I will not be without any good
thing.
2He makes a resting-place for me in the
green fields: he is my guide by the quiet
waters.
3He gives new life to my soul: he is my
guide in the ways of righteousness
because of his name.
4Yes, though I go through the valley of

deep shade, I will have no fear of evil; for you are with me, your rod and your support are my comfort.

5You make ready a table for me in front
of my haters: you put oil on my head;
my cup is overflowing.
6Truly, blessing and mercy will be with

me all the days of my life; and I will have
a place in the house of the Lord all my
days.

for the length of the days.

Douay-Rheims Version
1On the first day of the week, a psalm

for David. The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof: the world, and all they that dwell therein.

2For he hath founded it upon the seas;
and hath prepared it upon the rivers.
3Who shall ascend into the mountain of
the Lord: or who shall stand in his holy
place?
4The innocent in hands, and clean of

heart, who hath not taken his soul in
vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his
neighbour.

5He shall receive a blessing from the
Lord, and mercy from God his Saviour.
6This is the generation of them that seek
him, of them that seek the face of the
God of Jacob.
7Lift up your gates, O ye princes, and be
