AI postcard for the release of Htet Ko Ko. Htet Ko Ko was arrested on October 13, 2007, in connection with the protests that began in August 2007. On 21 November, Zaw Htet Ko Ko was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour. His trial took place in a special court within Insein Prison. He faces further charges and will likely receive further sentences. On 28 November 2008, Zaw Htet Ko Ko, along with 13 other members of the 88 Students group, was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment on three counts of inciting offences against public tranquillity. This latest ruling brings his total jail term to 11 years.
Zaw Htet Ko Ko was transferred to Kyaukpyu Prison, in the western state of Rahkine, on 6 February.
