The verb “to judge” and the nouns “judge” and “judgement” (Greek [2516], krima [2514], kritês [2519] and related words) are used in the New Testament in a general way to mean ‘to make a decision based on evidence, to assess, to think, to consider’ and as technical, legal terms meaning ‘to judge someone as guilty or not guilty’ in the context of a case being heard formally in a court. There is also a royal or political use in which the sense becomes ‘to rule or govern.’
